Red Banded Steelhead
This is Kyla. She was on the last charter of the year November 15, 2015, and caught this Red Banded Steelhead, a form of rainbow trout!
Notice the amazing transformation of the male during spawn. They take on a brilliant crimson or deep pink color along their flanks and gill covers; they are brassy green along the back and heavily spotted above the mid-line. Male steelhead develop a pronounced hooked lower jaw, or kype.
At 7 pounds, this catch made supper and memories to last a lifetime for this a young fisher!
